PS4 vs PS4 Slim vs PS4 Pro FAQs

Lately i’ve been reading stuffs about whether should someone buy a PS4 Slim or PS4 Pro, or is it worth to change your PS4 to slim one, or no point about buying PS4 Pro if you don’t have 4K TV with HDR and blablablabla.

I’m going to answer all of your questions regarding the consoles.

What is a PS4 Slim?
PS4 Slim is the new standard PS4, replacing the old model.

What is a PS4 Pro?
PS4 Pro is a high-end version of PS4 that is capable of outputting 4K graphics, HDR support, smoother and more stable framerates, and 4K video streaming. Upon its launch, PS4 Pro will make supported PS4 games look better and run more smoothly, while giving developers an upgraded toolset to create even richer, more detailed game worlds.

I don’t have a PS4 now, and i want to buy a PS4. Which one should i get? PS4 Pro or Slim?
If you couldn’t care less about 4K or HDR, then just grab a PS4 Slim. It’s cheap and it can play every PS4 games.
But if you care so much about 4K HDR Television and stuffs, then get a PS4 Pro.

I have the old model PS4 now, should i change to PS4 Slim or Pro?

Why do you want to change it to the slim one? Unless you have a trouble with the weight of the old model, there’s no reason to change your old model PS4 to the slim one. The biggest difference between the PS4 and PS4 Slim isn’t the specs. The Slim has the same internal specs as the original PS4, just with some design tweaks. If you want to, upgrade your old PS4 to PS4 Pro, just for the sake of upgrading it.

I want to buy PS4 Pro, but i don’t have 4K TV or HDR Supported TV. Should i still buy it?

The Answer is YES, If you don’t mind spending a lil bit more money for a better gaming experience. Our reason isn’t because it can support 4K or HDR, but the spec is so much better than the old PS4. PS5 won’t come out any time soon, if you want the best experience in gaming console, then get the PS4 Pro. It doesn’t matter if your TV don’t have 4K or HDR Supported, the output of PS4 Pro is still going to be better. Look at the chart below.

Even if your TV is only full HD, you will still get the 4K Content which is optimized into 1080p. And HDR isn’t something that is a must. Of course it will make the contrast detail and colors much better, but in the end, it’s still the same contents with a better color. I don’t care too much about the HDR though.

Will there be exclusive games for PS4 Pro?
The answer is no. It won’t repeat the same mistake made by the rival company *cough* Nintendo. All of the games are PS4 Games, the only thing that differs is that whether it supports PS4 Pro or not. Shuuhei Yoshida said that most of the games in the future will support PS4 Pro. But not every developer will do that. There will be games that is exactly the same whether you play it on PS4 Pro or PS4 Slim. All of the games will be “PS4 Games”.

In the end, choosing which console to buy is always based on your needs. For Example, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s. Which one has a better spec? Of course iPhone 6s, but does that make iPhone 6 a bad phone? No.
It’s the same thing with PlayStation 4 & Pro. Pro is better because it has better specs (of course), but does that make the old PlayStation 4 & Slim bad? No.
